Jewelry & Care
Is your jewelry handmade?
Yes! All the jewelry you see here is handmade by me, Jane, the designer and maker behind Attitude North.
What materials are used in your jewellery?
I work with recycled sterling silver, solid 10k gold and gold-filled components. My pieces also feature carefully selected natural gemstones.
How is your jewelry packaged?
All jewelry is packaged in a beautiful branded box made from FSC®-certified cardboard, ready for gifting. To reduce waste, I ship it in a mailer envelope whenever possible. If your purchase is a gift, let me know if you’d like to hide the pricing or include a personalized note.
How should I care for my jewelry?
To keep your jewelry in its best condition, avoid wearing it while bathing, swimming, or when using cleaners, cosmetics, or chemicals. I recommend storing your pieces in their box to reduce tarnishing, tangling, or scratching.
Silver naturally tarnishes over time, and this process can be accelerated by exposure to water, perspiration, pollution, or certain chemicals—even the composition of your skin. Tarnish can easily be removed using a silver polishing cloth.
For regular cleaning, use warm soapy water or a polishing cloth on silver and gold jewelry, while gold-filled items can be gently cleaned with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth. Keep in mind that polishing an oxidized silver piece will remove its dark finish.
Will my jewelry tarnish or change color?
Silver naturally tarnishes over time, and factors like water, perspiration, pollution, and chemicals—even the natural oils in your skin—can speed up this process. Tarnish can be easily removed with a silver polishing cloth. Gold and gold-filled jewelry won’t tarnish, but avoid using abrasives on gold-filled pieces to maintain their finish.
If you have an oxidized silver piece, keep in mind that oxidation is a surface treatment. This means that if the piece comes into frequent contact with your skin—such as a ring—some of the dark finish may wear off over time. These wear changes are part of the natural aging process and add to the unique charm of oxidized jewelry.
